Communication gap from PM has led to unfavourable situation for Congress: PC Chacko

Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader PC Chacko has said that a "communication gap" from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has led to an "unfavourable situation" for the party, which is already going through an adverse phase ahead of Lok Sabha elections due to various scams.

"Indian situation is not in favour of Congress, we are facing an adverse situation in India because of which the result will be unpredictable. There is no one compared to the status of PM, but due to a communication gap from the level of PM to our spokespersons, everyone has failed to communicate to the people whatever the work the party has done for the common man," Mr Chacko said in Ernakulam on Saturday.

"Even though Prime minister is one of the best economists in the country, he failed to address the media properly on various issues," he said at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Ernakulam Press Club.

He also mentioned that the PM himself has clarified earlier that he was not expecting another term.

Mr Chacko, who was the Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee which probed the 2G scam, said when the probe report was tabled in Parliament, there was no proper discussion.

However, he said in Kerala, the wave was in favour of Congress.

Mr Chacko, sitting MP from Thrissur, had refused to contest from his constituency and demanded a change to Chalakuddy which the Congress finally agreed to. The party reportedly had to bend its own rules of not allowing any change of constituency for sitting MPs to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He, however, said there was no particular reason for the change.
