Former Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Jaya Prada today addressed a joint press conference where the two politicians announced they are joining Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal.

Amar Singh:- I am not doing this for politics
- I supported Ajit Singh's demand for Harit Pradesh. Smaller UP is the only workable solution to manage the state.
- We must split Uttar Pradesh in smaller states if we want development
- I have great respect for Sonia Gandhi, will do what she asks
- Rajnath Singh is my friend. In politics there are ideological differences, it isn't a gang-war
Jaya Prada:
- Amar Singhji and I want to work with Ajit Singh for the people of Uttar Pradesh, says Jaya Prada
- The Samajwadi Party could not recognise the work done by Amar Singh, despite that he waited for 5 years
Ajit Singh:
- We will contest eight seats this elections from western Uttar Pradesh
