MHRD Begins Institute Registration For NIRF Ranking 2018
The institute registration for NIRF Ranking 2018 has begun on the official website for NIRF. The practice of ranking Indian institutes by MHRD was approved in 2015 and the first rankings were released in 2016 followed by the second time ranking in 2017. For institutions to be ranked, institutes including universities and colleges need to submit their details on the registration portal which has been activated on the official NIRF website. The last date to register is October 6, 2017.
MHRD has also sent separate pre-registration invitation link to all heads of institutions in the country.
In 2017, institutes were given a
common overall ranking and degree specific ranking, however the absence of certain prominent institutes from the list had raised some eyebrows specially form the students. MHRD had cleared the air about absence of these institutes and said that only those institutes had been ranked which submitted their detail within the stipulated period of time.
In the
NIRF ranking for 2017, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore was adjudged the best institute in the country in the overall ranking. Among degree colleges, Miranda House (Delhi University) was declared the best college in the country. IISc was also declared the best University in the country. IIT Madras emerged as the best institute for Engineering and IIM Ahmedabad was declared the best institute for management.
The rankings in 2017 were based on the following five criteria:
- Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR)
- Research and Professional Practice (RPP)
- Graduation Outcome (GO)
- Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
- Perception
If the institutes would be ranked on the same parameters this year as well remains to be revealed.
