Imposition of Sanskrit In Schools a Nagpur conspiracy, Says Assamese groups
Imposition of Sanskrit in Assam Schools by the BJP government has run into controversy now. Various groups from the state came out against the state government move and called the decision as a "conspiracy planned, managed and monitored from Nagpur" where Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquartered. In a cabinet decision taken two days ago, the Assam government led by Sarbananda Sonowal decided to make Sanskrit along with computer education, a permanent subject in the state schools.
According to IANS, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) came out against imposition of Sanskrit as a compulsory subject till Class 8 in all schools, and alleged it was "a well orchestrated conspiracy".
AJYCP President Biraj Kumar Talukdar said that the party is not against the ancient language being taught in schools but their concern is about the way the government is imposing the language in haste.
Talukdar also accused that the conspiracy is being micro-managed from New Delhi and Nagpur implying a hand of the BJP government at the Centre and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh behind the decision.
All Assam Students' Union (AASU) General Secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said that the move would be a burden for the students and it would impact their educational psychology.
The
cabinet meeting was chaired by CM Sarbananda Sonowal.
