Woman Jumps On Metro Track At Mandi House Station

New Delhi: A 35-year-old woman suffered severe injuries after she allegedly jumped on a metro track in Mandi House station today.

The incident took place in the afternoon, when the woman, identified as Menu, a resident of west Delhi's Uttam Nagar area, jumped on the metro track on seeing an approaching train but the train driver halted the train before it could hit her, a senior police official said.

She suffered severe injuries on her head and right eye. She is admitted in a hospital and her condition is stated to be out-of-danger, the official said.

No suicide note was found from the spot and the police could not question Menu, as she has not been declared fit for giving statement yet.

The cause behind her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, the official added.
