Service On Delhi Metro's Blue Line Affected Due To Technical Issues

Commuters on Delhi Metro's Blue Line have often been inconvenienced due to technical errors.

New Delhi: Services on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro were severely affected due to a technical glitch in south west Delhi's Dwarka. There were several delays across the busy 50 kilometre long stretch, which runs from Dwarka Sector-21 station to Vaishali and Noida City Centre. The delays were caused due to a "recurrent Track Circuit drop", a signalling issue, at Dwarka which hindered the movement of trains, according to news agency PTI. This comes days after Delhi Metro services were temporarily hit due to repair work on January 3.

"Train services on Line 3 (Dwarka Sector-21to Vaishali and Noida City Centre) had minor bunching effect from 9 am to noon today due to signalling issue at locations approaching Dwarka," an official statement from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

"The Track circuit was made normal at 12.10 pm," it added.

Despite the rectification, it took a long time for the Delhi Metro to function properly.

"Usually, it takes me around 25 minutes to reach Rajiv Chowk from mayor Vihar Phase-1 station. Today, it took more than an hour to travel the same distance," complained a regular commuter to PTI.

This is not the first time that Delhi Metro services have been affected due to technical glitches. On January 2, many commuters were left stranded due to issues in the overhead wiring between Pragati Maidan and Mandi House stations. Commuters were also inconvenienced on Christmas due to maintenance work between Indrapastha and Yamuna Bank stations.

The busy Blue Line of the Delhi Metro is prone to technical glitches due to its elevated structure, which makes it vulnerable to heat, cold, rain and other adverse weather conditions.
