Retired teacher found murdered in Delhi home

Delhi: A retired government school teacher was found murdered in his south Delhi flat with police suspecting the involvement of some youth who had taken on rent his duplex apartment earlier.
D K Joshi (68) was found dead with a head injury and stab wounds on his neck in his Vasant Kunj C-9 block flat at around 8:50 am by one of his relatives who had come to check on him.

Joshi was living alone as his wife died two years ago and son Anurag, a software professional, is settled in the US.

The incident came to light when Anurag asked his cousin to visit his father as he was not attending his calls from the US, a senior police official said.

"The relative went to Joshi's place. He did not respond to the knock on the door. So the relative peeped through the window when he saw blood in the room. He immediately informed police," the official said.

Joshi was attacked with a blunt object on his head and was stabbed on his neck with a pair of scissors, the official said adding, no servant was staying with him though a maid used to come during the day time.

"The entry was friendly. The front door was locked from inside. The attacker has exited through the rear door which was found open," the official said adding some valuables and cash were missing from the house.

Investigators suspect that someone known to him was involved in the murder.

"Three-four youth were staying on rent in the duplex flat. They vacated the place two-three months ago. We are investigating whether they were involved in the incident," he said.
