Rain in Delhi Brings Respite From Sultry Weather Conditions

New Delhi: After a sweltering Saturday, showers in some parts of Delhi this afternoon finally brought some relief to the residents of the city who had been largely discomforted by the extreme heat conditions for the past few days. See Pics

Before the rains, today morning remained sunny, with the minimum temperature settling four notches above the season's average at 30.5 degrees Celsius. The officials of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast a partly cloudy day for the afternoon.

"The sky will be partly cloudy and some parts of the city may experience dust storms," an official of the IMD had said.

Humidity at 8.30 am remained at  71 per cent.

Yesterday was the hottest July 12 in the last five years, with mercury remaining seven notches above the season's average at 42.3 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was 30.1 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.
