No Order Can Stop Delhi Government From Fighting Corruption: Manish Sisodia

AAP's Manish Sisodia said no order can stop Delhi government from fighting corruption.

New Delhi: Days after the high court ruled that the Lt Governor is the administrative head of Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has made it clear that there will be no change in the government's fight against corruption and warned bureaucrats against indulging in corrupt practices.

He said no order can stop Delhi government from fighting corruption.

"Several people are saying that as the high court order has come out, the Delhi government doesn't have power. Don't mind, but there are many officers who were no more able to make money and have started thinking that the system will now get centralised."

"I warn all such people. No order will stop us from fighting against the corruption," he told a gathering of tax officials and winners of the 'Bill Banvao Inam Pao' scheme of trade and taxes department in New Delhi.

Mr Sisodia's remarks came a week after the high court held that the Lt Governor is the administrative head of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Since the Aam Aadmi Party came to power in Delhi in February 2015, the Arvind Kejriwal government and the Lieutenant Governor's office have been at loggerheads over issues including transfer, posting and suspension of officers.

Mr Sisodia, however, claimed that his party leaders "did not leave their home to make careers in politics, but to curb loot of people's money... they don't derive power because they hold some chair', but from their zeal and intent to fight against corruption."

Mr Sisodia also raised the "relevance" of an elected government in Delhi and the actual power of the voter when "we the people are considered supreme in the Constitution".

At the event, he distributed cash prizes to winners of the scheme.
