Mr Kejriwal, don't blame us for attack, it is a guru-shishya fight: BJP

Arvind Kejriwal has accused BJP of a hand in the 'ink attack' at his press meet on Monday

New Delhi: The BJP today said Arvind Kejriwal should not blame the party for the 'ink' attack on him at a press meet on Monday; it was a result of his fight with 'guru' Anna Hazare.

"Don't blame the BJP. It is your fight, a fight between guru and shishya (protege)," said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar today. "Anna is charging you for misusing his name and funds."

Mr Kejriwal had called the press conference yesterday after a sharp letter from Anna Hazare asking him to clarify whether he was misusing funds raised for the Lokpal movement in his campaign for the December 4 Delhi election.

The 76-year-old Gandhian's letter to Mr Kejriwal marked a new low in the strained ties between the two leading faces of the campaign for a Lokpal or national ombudsman.

Mr Kejriwal has denied that financial donations to the 2011 campaign fronted by Anna Hazare have been spent by his Aam Aadmi Party for the election and said if any irregularity is found he will not contest.

Nachiketa, the man who threw ink at Mr Kejriwal at this press meet had shouted slogans in Anna Hazare's name but claimed to be a BJP activist. He was arrested and released on bail today.

Mr Kejriwal today said, "(The incident) was set up by the BJP. They are indulging in dirty politics."

The BJP had distanced itself from the heckler, who they said is a former member of the party and has been active in Anna Hazare's movement.

Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj had rubbished the allegation, saying, "Why would he shout Anna Hazare zindabad? If he was a BJP member, he would have shouted Atal Behari (Vajpayee) zindabad."
