Man Commits Suicide By Jumping Off High-Rise In Delhi's Nehru Place

A man committed suicide in south east Delhi on Wednesday evening by jumping off a high-rise building.

New Delhi: A man in his twenties allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the 16th floor of a multi-storeyed building in Nehru Place in south east Delhi on Wednesday evening.

Police said the man was around 25 years of age and the incident took place around 6.30 p.m.

"Identity of the deceased has not been established yet since there was no mobile phone nor any note was recovered which could give details about him," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mr Romil Baaniya.

A security guard of Chiranjivi Tower told the police that he tried to stop the man from entering the building but the man did not heed.

The guard went back to bring his colleagues to stop him but by then he had sneaked inside.

The guards later heard a loud thud and found the man lying in a pool of blood, said a police officer.

Police reached the spot after getting a police control room (PCR) call. The man was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem and inquest proceedings were initiated to probe the matter further, the officer added.
