Government Releases Rs 29 Crore for Pension of Retired Delhi Transport Corporation Employees
New Delhi: The Delhi government has said it has released an amount of over Rs 29 crore for the pension of retired employees of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

A senior Delhi government official said pension for the month of May and June has been released.

"Government has released Rs 29.64 crore for the pension of 12,200 retired employees of DTC," the official said, adding that pension for the month of July will be released soon.

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai had recently said that there had been some financial lapses on the part of DTC, which were being examined. He had further claimed that the pension amount had increased manifold over a period of time compared to employee's contribution to pension fund.

"As pension fund got exhausted, it was being paid from money under different head. Finally, DTC was asked to come with a permanent solution," a senior DTC official said.

Retired employees of DTC had recently met DPCC chief Ajay Maken and sought his support on the matter.
