Delhi Records Warmest First Week Of January In 15 Years

The maximum temperature was recorded at 24.7 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average.

New Delhi:  It was cloudy and sunny by turns today with the minimum temperature settling at 11.5 degrees Celsius in the national capital, which has experienced the warmest first week of January in the past 15 years or so.

The first week of January this year has been the warmest January in at least 15 years, according to IMD Director BP Yadav.

The minimum was posted at four notches above the normal for the ongoing period.

Foggy conditions were witnessed in several parts of the city which affected the visibility in few areas of the city.

Visibility was recorded at 400 m at 5.30 am which dropped further to 300 m at 8.30 am. It was recorded at 700 m at 11:30 am and improved further as the day progressed.

The humidity in the air oscillated between 67 per cent and 100 per cent.

The MeT office has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow along with the possibility of light rains and thundershowers in some parts of the capital.

"The skies will be partly cloudy. Light rain or thundershower is likely occur in some parts of the city. Shallow to moderate fog is expected occur in some parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 24 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively," a MeT official said.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 24.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum had settled at 11.6 degrees.
