Delhi man robbed after asking for lift

New Delhi: An employee working with a multinational company was beaten up and robbed of his valuables by three people inside a cab in which he took a lift, police said. The assailants also forced him to reveal his ATM pin and withdrew money from several places.

Ajay Agnihotri, who works in Ludhiana city of Punjab, came to his company's head office here Tuesday to attend a meeting. Afterwards, he decided to meet his sister who lives in Gurgaon.

"Ajay took lift in a cab from Chitranjan Park area. The cab driver had asked him to pay for Rs 20. Cab was bearing number plate DL7CAQ7956," said a senior police official.

Ajay said that it was Wagon-R car and three people were already sitting inside.

"I got seated. After sometime all the three pounced on me. They beat me up badly, robbed of my valuables, Rs 5,000 cash and laptop," he said in his statement.

After withdrawing money from Ajay's account from several ATMs, they threw him out of the car near the Akshardham flyover.

Police are investigating the case.
