CBI Trying To Defame Delhi Chief Minister, Says Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia has alleged that the CBI is spreading rumours that in the December 15 Delhi Secretariat raid, the CBI officials have recovered five recordings, so the scope of investigation would be widened.

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has accused the CBI of trying to "defame" Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and bureaucrats in his government by "leaking" news in the media and asked the agency director to refrain himself from adopting such "tactics".

He alleged that the agency is spreading rumours that in the December 15 Delhi Secretariat raid, the CBI officials have recovered five recordings, so the scope of investigation would be widened.

In a letter to CBI Director Anil Kumar Sinha on December 25, Mr Sisodia alleged that since the probe agency raid at chief minister's office completely "failed", it is now adopting such tactics.

"The only intent behind leaking stories, which can be understood, is to defame the Delhi government, bureaucrats and its Chief Minster Kejriwal," Mr Sisodia said in his letter.

He further said, "I want to know if such stories are being leaked on the behest of the Prime Minister as CBI comes under him."

Mr Sisodia said that if you (CBI Director) do not take immediate steps, it would itself "prove that on the behest of the Prime Minister", you and your team are trying to "defame" the opposition party by "misusing" CBI as part of the "conspiracy."

"You (CBI Director) know that it not the work of CBI to do politics, instead it's duty is to get corrupt and criminals punished through fair probe," Sisodia added.

He has also asked for accountability to be fixed against officers indulging in "leaking" stories.

Mr Sisodia claimed that despite raids and interrogation, nothing seems to have been found and thus malicious campaign is being carried.
