New Delhi: A doctor from AIIMS hospital in New Delhi has been arrested, along with four others, for the alleged rape of woman from Sikkim.
The 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped by the doctor, who works in the neuro science department of AIIMS, in south Delhi's posh Hauz Khas area last night.
Police say, as per their initial investigation, the woman was brought to Delhi from Sikkim about five days ago by some people on the pretext of providing her a job.
"The woman told the police that some persons known to her took her to the house of a doctor in Hauz Khas last night and left from there. Thereafter, the doctor allegedly raped her," said a police official.
Based on the complaint filed by the woman, a case has been registered at Hauz Khas Police Station and charges of sexual assault and human trafficking have been invoked.
Apart from the doctor, the four others who are in custody, are part of the agency who allegedly wanted to push the woman into prostitution.
