9 People Held in Delhi With Drugs Worth Rs 6 Crore

New Delhi: Nine people, including three Nigerians, have been arrested from different parts of the national capital and drugs valued at Rs 6 crore in the international market recovered from their possession, police said on Saturday.

The seized drugs include 100 kg cannabis, 905 gram heroin and 65 gram cocaine.

Parvej Khan, 32 and Javed, 36, were arrested from a bus stand on National Highway 24 on Wednesday and 100 kg cannabis (ganja) was recovered from their possession.

"The value of the recovered cannabis is Rs 50 lakh in the international market," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said.

Anthony Umeh, 25 and Agbahia Ikenna, 30, both residing in Delhi and smuggling heroin into India, were held on Thursday from west Delhi's Uttam Nagar.

Mr Yadav said 800 gram heroin worth Rs 1.6 crore in the international market was recovered from them. The heroin was destined for the US and was concealed in courier packets of embroidery.

A team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested Raibul from south Delhi's New Friends Colony area with 105 gram heroin worth Rs 22 lakh, he said.

Mohd Raibul, 22, Ubabueze Chijioke Emmaunle, 25, Rahul Chaudhary, 31, Anshuman Tiwari, 27 were arrested from west Delhi's Rohini with 60 gram cocaine worth Rs 65 lakh.
