5 Schools to be Run in Double Shifts in Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi government has decided to run five of its schools in double shifts to cater to large number of students.

The decision was taken by Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia.

A senior government official said that there were more than 50 students in one class of each school and in view of this, the governmnet decided to introduce two shifts.

The five government schools, which will be run in double shifts, are SBV, Sector-4 in Ambedkar Nagar, G Co-ed SSS in Sundar Nagari, S Co-ed in Peeragarhi Village, GBSSS in Amalwas Jwalapuri and G Co-ed SSS in Bindapur.

Government has provided basic infrastructure for double shifts in these five schools.

"Few months back, the Education Minister had directed his department to find out those government schools which are overcrowded so that they can be run in double shifts," the official said.

There are around 946 government schools across the national capital in which lakhs of students are studying.

Government said that apart from making 8,000 new classrooms across the capital, it is going to run more schools in double shifts so that students get quality education at their institutions.
