21-Year-Old Man Jumps in Front of Metro Train in Delhi, Dies

New Delhi:

A 21-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at Dwarka Sector 10 station in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place around 6 pm when the deceased identified as Nitin Tomar, a resident of Najafgarh area, was waiting at platform one for a train towards Dwarka, the police said.

As the train entered the platform, he jumped on the metro tracks, they said adding that Mr Tomar was declared dead on the spot. The body was removed from the tracks by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.

Services on Dwarka metro route were interrupted for a while during the evening.

Eyewitnesses claim that Mr Tomar was talking on phone at the time of the incident but the police is yet to ascertain.

The police are scanning the CCTV footage to know the sequence of events leading to his death.

Police said that they have not found any suicide note from his possession.
