150 kgs of narcotic seized, two arrested in capital
New Delhi: Two persons have been arrested with 150 kgs of narcotic and psychotropic substances and tablets worth Rs one crore, police said on Saturday.

"Deepak Rastogi and his associate Gurbachan Singh alias Bobby were arrested late last night from Sector 7 of R K Puram and 150 kgs of psychotropic substance Ephedrine and 18,000 strips (containing 10 tablets in each strip) of Pseudoephedrine) mostly used in rave parties, has been seized from them," a senior police official said.

The Delhi Police's Special Cell had, in April and June last year, seized a large quantity of psychotropic substances like Ephedrine.

During investigations, it was found that a syndicate is involved in trafficking of Ephedrine in Myanmar and China from Manipur.

The psychotropic substances are in high demand in international markets for preparation of party drug 'Ecstasy' and 'Ice', DCP Arun Kampani said.

Both of them were arrested following information that Mr Rastogi, a resident of Palam had received a huge consignment of the drug and kept in Sector 7, R K Puram, Delhi with his associate Bobby.

Mr Rastogi, 29, was arrested when he had gone to Malai Mandir in R K Puram to hand over another consignment to his associate.

"A total of 150 kgs of Ephedrine and 18,000 strips of Actifin tablets of Pseudoephedrine were recovered from Deepak's motorcycle and Singh's car," he said.

During interrogation, Mr Rastogi said he and his associate were running the business with their Manipuri associates.

Mr Rastogi used to procure the recovered psychotropic drug and Actifin tablets from their other associates in Meerut and Delhi. All the consignment were sent to Myanmar and China via Manipur for preparing Ecstasy and other narcotic drugs and contraband substances for selling them in rave parties.
