BJP in distress: It has been a politically explosive week for the Bharatiya Janata Party. And the fate of two of its stalwarts -- L K Advani and Rajnath Singh -- hangs in balance. Following a rebellion by one of the senior BJP leaders, Jaswant Singh, and disassociation of its key strategist Sudheendra Kulkarni over ideological differences, has deepened the crisis for Advani and Rajnath. The party has already been fighting with former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje over the BJP's dismal performance in the state during the Lok Sabha polls 2009.

On July 26th, 1999, our soldiers fought an armed conflict with Pakistan at the heights of Kargil and Drass and after fighting for over 40 days managed to defeat the Pakistani infiltrators, in the process losing 500 soldiers` lives. And in memory of these young men the army celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas on the 26th of July. It`s been 10 years now and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Kargil War, Jai Jawan brings in actor Abhishek Bachchan in a rendezvous with the soldiers...the war is over but for our soldiers who are guarding these borders the battle is still on. Here are some of the glimpses of the actor`s visit to the soldiers` camps in Kargil.

It was a war that continued for two whole months on the cold, rugged and mountainous regions of the Indo-Pak border – between two nuclear powers, the Kargil war was as if a test of power and patience. Tenacity took on a new name when the soldiers from both sides fought for their country. India launched Operation Vijay against the infiltrating Pakistani soldiers in Kargil and remained locked in artillery clashes with Pakistan on the Line of Control. It was colossal and a battle that the entire world community woke up to with concern. But as it happens – common and consistent perhaps in such anecdotes of valour and vigour, that patriotism leaves behind a gory path of sacrifice. In the line of duty each soldier finds a way to fight their enemy till the end, no matter what it takes, no matter how. It is to those, we pay our homage.
