Andhra girl mysteriously killed in US
Uma Sudhir
Tuesday, November 04, 2008, (Hyderabad)
In yet another case of crime against an Indian, a young girl from Andhra Pradesh, Arpana, who left home to pursue an MS degree in the US a couple of years ago, was found dead in her apartment in Seattle with injuries on her neck.
The family learnt about the tragedy when they asked a friend to drop in and find out if all was well because Arpana had not called home three days in a row and that was unusual.
This is the sixth case in less than two years of a young person from Andhra Pradesh being killed under mysterious circumstances in foreign shores.
Last time Arpana was in the news, it was for all the right reasons. That was in June 2005 when she won an international innovation award for designing a chip.
She left shortly afterwards to pursue her MS degree in the US. Late on Monday, her family got the news that was she was found dead in her apartment in Seattle.
"She did her engineering from Vignana Jyothi College and MS from New Jersey. She was working at Seattle for EMC. She joined very recently. Last night we came to know about this incident," said Jinaga, Arpana's father.
"We do not know the motive and we don't have any information about what happened and they have also not given any information. Only thing we came to know is that she is no more," he added.
This is the third incident in six months of a girl from Andhra Pradesh being found dead under suspicious circumstances in a foreign land.
Less than two months ago, in September 23-year-old Soumya Reddy, who had left her home in Hyderabad in June 2007 to pursue an MS degree at Southern Illinois University was found dead in her car.
In May, 23-year-old Jyotirmayee from Vijayawada was found dead in her apartment in the UK.

You think the person who committed the crime even knows what is going on in India? Trust me they wouldnt even know that the girl was an Indian. Its an act of Crime by petty criminals who can easily carry a Gun here.
