To save Nano, Bengal govt reworks compromise formula
NDTV Correspondent
Friday, September 05, 2008, (Singur)
In Singur, the West Bengal government is trying to work out a compromise formula to break the deadlock that has stalled work at the Nano plant.
The government is offering around 100 acres of land for the economic rehabilitation of land losers who need an alternative livelihood.
An earlier package offered only 47 acres that the government owns within the Tata factory complex.
Whether the Trinamool will consider this as a concession is not clear but at the end of a three-hour meeting with the state government facilitated by the Governor, Trinamool's Partha Chatterjee said there was a movement towards a solution.
Industry minister Nirupam Sen also said he was hopeful of a positive outcome.
