China, Pak thrilled at nuke deal mess in India
NDTV Bureau Report
Tuesday, August 21, 2007, (New Delhi)
The two countries most worried about the Indo-US Nuke deal are China and Pakistan. Both these neighbours are now thrilled, as they believe that if the nuke deal collapses India will be weakened.
The two nations were worried about the closeness between India and the US and that India would grow stronger with the deal. So they vehemently opposed the deal.
It is no wonder then that almost all leading newspapers had scathing accusations against the Left parties in India, which has opposed the deal, calling them a front for Chinese national interests.
The Left parties, however, say that they have opposed the deal independently, based on their own ideology and not as agents of China. So they see Tuesday's newspapers as grossly unfair.
"This is rubbish. We have not done anything for China at all," said CPM MP Nilotpal Basu.
It's no secret that the growing closeness between India and the US over the last two years has the dragon very worried.
China wants to be the dominant power in the Asian region and its only counter-balance is India.
In fact some say the Left parties need not have bothered. China would have vetoed the deal at the Nuclear Suppliers Group, which needs a unanimous decision.
But now, unwittingly and without being an agent, the Left has done China's job for them and China is having the last laugh.

Shame NDTV. This is no news. An editorial comment is being dished out as 'news'. Not one substantial statement to prove that Pak and China are thrilled at the Indo-US deal going sour.

"Yunano Misro Roma Sab Mit Gaye Jahan se, Ab Tak Magar hai Baki Namon Nishan Hamara=" we should be proud that despite our surroundings, democracy in India has survived untarnished for the last 60 years. We are not afraid of the US nor are we or will we ever be their slaves, India is an entity beyond par, tell these left intellectualls we are as a nation intelligent enought to know what to deal with and how to deal with. Our polity, be it BJP, UPA or left are not traitors, they might be less educated than the left leaders, and we have full faith in Manmohan Singh. All decisions of the governemnt go through so many checks, it is next to impossible to be wrong, i support the government

It is really surprising that after 60 years of independence political parties in India do not think for country but for their benfit. Leaders left party should resign who are creating all sort of obstacles for nuclear deal. Can any of left party come forward and explain to people of India without Nuclear power plants what are their plans to meet India's power problem. If they don't have any plan then support the deal.

May be all shout at America's intrests & even say to the extent that they have not done any thing good, but my question to all those is that lets show even one goodness that laft have done for this country other than barking business. Why dont they look in thier own thali of west bengal. Communism attitude is a slow poison to this country ..

I think CPI(M) are not against the nuclear energy they are aginst the Hyde act, which may give a US rider. Deal should be full-proof & should not be called off at US's whim & fancy. With all due respect to Honourable PM Dr Manmohan Singh who is instrumental in catapulting our economy, we must not get into catch 22 situation, this must be borne in mind especially dealing with US. US notorious for cancelling the deal of any sort of any impoirtance irrespective of the country they are dealing with. It is a well known fact what they did to Venizuela, when the latter refused to support US. US stopped supply of F16 spares to Venizuela, Venizuela refused oil in return. Beware of non-reliable states.

Any party that opposes this deal has the obligation to spell out how we are going to get enerygy in the future. My town has 16 hours of power cuts daily. I see this in India's best strategic interest. Coal plants are not the future. The debate is about energy crisis and should not about cold war era politics.

It is surprising that Left Parties suddenly shouting so hard after so many months since the deal is under negotiation that it is detrimental to our nation. They always have this uncanny habit of asking their pound of flesh, otherwise who will listen to them. Our neighbours do need need big army or nukes since they have their friends in left parties to nuke the ambition of our country to become economic and military super power. It is sheer bankruptsy of ideology, intelect and maturity of our political class. GOD save us from the clutches of group of scoudrals called leftist.

Wonder how the left would have reacted had the deal was with China or any communist country. Left front has been always lived with their pan- pseudo ideology and has no nationality. They would on one side criticise (never supported) nuclear India, but keep quiet with nuclear China or N.Korea and also try to stop hook or by crook the deal of the decade just because there is some vague clause in the agreement about further nuclear tests. What India needs today is energy to compete and stand upto China but this is the last thing what Left wants. They have always worked against the interest of progressive (barring a few ocassions) India starting with the Independence. Unfrotunately we are being blackmailed by Left whereas and the more progressive parties are playing politics from the sides

Left front - They are doing what Chinese and the Pakistanis could not do. Scuttle the Nuclear deal. They are worse than traitors. The day Karat has opposed the deal, China has started the construction of the first of the 31 Nuclear reactors planned. Even China has had to sign deal with Australia and if they were moving any facility from Civilian to military segment, the deal requires them to get Australia's consent. If they can do, why can't India do the same. Left front are stooges of the Chinese. They are nothing but a bunch of Traitors.

The Left are a bunch of old men who have always been TRAITORS, NO LESS - I would consider most of them no less than Chinese agents. It is a pity that they have been voted to position of power.

America never did any betterment to any country. Is is a global terrorist started with scattering gulf countires, killing millions of people in Afghanistan, Iraq and else where in Gulf just for leadership on petroleum. It was friend to Saddam, it developed Bin laden for its cruked tactices against USSR and when they don't need, they will kill. It is true today with India. It does not have love rather it has another cruked plan in Asia and trying to make India as part of its game plan. Today without knowing the true nature of America, any body talk to continue the Hyde Act are going to trap in to another Somalia.... Another Iraq.... Another Afghanistan..... Another Kasavo...... I request all Indians to oppose the deal where Sonia gandhi and their collegues have self interest like Bofors scandal... they will sell India to Israel and to America.

All these years left have spent their time reading their own ideology. They also need to spend some time understanding World energy politics. I think India's left parties are keeping our neighbors happy.

Communists and Islamic fanatics are the same. They give more importance to their "ideologies" than the country or humanity.

The left never stood for India. What have they done for anybody? Look at Kerala to see what they can do. What India needs at the moment is development. And one has to get the best of the world than talk stupid things. Anyway, whats the point in talking? They never listen, do they? Just make noise.

We should keep left parties aside while taking such important decisions. These guys never understood and will never understand the importance of country need. All they care about is their ideology. Not sure how some one can elect such dump people in parliament.
