M K Subba, the Congress MP from Tezpur, may finally have to do something about the allegations over his Indian citizenship, something that has been a controversy in Assam for some time.
The Supreme Court has said that the circumstances of the lottery baron's presence in India are highly suspicious and has asked the MP and the CBI to prove Subba's citizenship within six weeks.
The court also said that the CBI, which has been investigating if Subba got the citizenship by fraudulent means, has been on the wrong track.
Subba owns a lottery company and was allegedly involved in the Nagaland lottery scam.
His citizenship is considered controversial in Assam, where he has fought a legal battle against complaints that he has got his Indian citizenship through fraudulent means.
