“ The fitness is incidental, it's by default that you're getting fitter, in a class like this you can burn about 250 easily, because a lot of us have weak backs so to be able to work on your body, to be able to do ab crunches over and over again, it's overworking that particular muscle which doesn't happen with this. ”

Tired of all the weight training, the treadmill and the never-ending crunches, there's a perfect solution in offing - dance fitness.
Not only is it a fun way to lose those extra kilos but it will also help you get into the groove.
Who said that belly dancing is just for performing artists. For the women in Gurgaon, it's not only their early morning routine but also their daily dose of adrenaline.
The movements may seem simple, but they are as effective in battling the bulge and they are in helping burn calories and de-stressing.
Women say it's invogorating, taxing, stress free and gives a big high. "We are very happy, very energetic. You can see us all smiling," said one woman.
Fitness trainers are inducing an element of fun and adding that zing to the regular dance routines - be it bellydancing, dandia routines, variants of the Salsa or even Bhangara aerobics.
The idea is to break the monotony of conventional exercise and revamp the workouts to suit today's lifestyle.
But burning calories through dance fitness might also burn a hole in your pocket with each class costing anything between Rs 150- Rs 300 per session.
"The fitness is incidental, it's by default that you're getting fitter, in a class like this you can burn about 250 easily, because a lot of us have weak backs so to be able to work on your body, to be able to do ab crunches over and over again, it's overworking that particular muscle which doesn't happen with this," said Vinodini Gupta, Fitness Trainer.
By default or not, as long as waistlines go slimmer, the dandia may well replace the dumbell.
