Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bhauguna to NDTV:
- We have not been able to access people who were on foot between Guarikund and Kedarnath
- NDRF, Army, ITBP teams on foot are there
- The death toll is very high, but now our mission is to save those who are alive
- More than 500 roads damaged, 200 bridges washed out
- The worst is over and relief and rescue operations are on
- The damage in Kedarnath was because of a cloudburst
- This is the season where we get highest number of people. When you get severe rain warning do you evacuate the city?
- Uttarkashi, Rishikesh are cities built on rivers , they are centuries old.
- We want ecology balances with development; we have not sanctioned fresh projects.
