The shoe throwing incident involving Home Minister P Chidambaram and a journalist, Jarnail Singh has got the Congress thinking.
Concerned over the political fallout of the incident, the Congress has indicated that it was open to reviewing the candidatures of Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, both accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots but later given a clean chit by the CBI.
Earlier, despite protests by Sikh families, the party had fielded Tytler as a candidate in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency. Should the Congress deny tickets to Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler? Will the decision be driven by larger political interests ?
