The historic discovery of water on the moon would not have been possible without India's moon mission Chandrayaan. That acknowledgement came from NASA, as it announced the lunar breakthrough in a press conference in Washington. Chandrayaan carried a NASA instrument the MCube which found clinching evidence of water on the lunar surface. Widespread evidence of water has been found in the permanently shadowed north and south pole of the moon. In fact it is estimated that there is a litre of water to be found per tonne of lunar rock.
