"One number doesn't change anything," Nadal said. "I was very happy to be No. 2. I am very happy, for sure, to be No. 1. Every year the season starts from zero for everybody," Rafael Nadal.
"Not many guys have been able to win a Grand Slam in the last few years. Rafa and me took a lot of them, Novak won Australian Open last year. Winning a Grand Slam is a different animal. They don't come easily," Roger Federer.
"It's difficult to go out on the court and look across the net and think that someone might be better than you," Venus Williams.
"I'm already No. 1 and I believe all of these girls here want to be where I am now. So I'm just enjoying it and really having fun. I play tennis because I like to play, not because I have to prove anything to everybody," Jelena Jankovic.
