With the Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the Jat vote becomes crucial in Rajasthan.
In the 2003 elections, the Jats swung towards Vasundhara Raje, giving her a decisive win. With Jats impacting about 40 of the Vidhan Sabha seats, the Congress could try the same and get the Jats behind it by giving a Jat CM.
Among the frontrunners for the post are:
Ashok Gehlot -- the former Rajasthan chief minister, who spearheaded the party campaign in the Assembly polls.
Sis Ram Ola, currently the Coal Minister at the Centre and a Jat heavyweight from Jhunjhunu.
Col Sona Ram, a vocal Jat leader and former MP from Barmer.
Parasram Maderna another Jat leader or the current Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar.
