Frontrunners for the post of Rajasthan CM

With the Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the Jat vote becomes crucial in Rajasthan.

In the 2003 elections, the Jats swung towards Vasundhara Raje, giving her a decisive win. With Jats impacting about 40 of the Vidhan Sabha seats, the Congress could try the same and get the Jats behind it by giving a Jat CM.

Among the frontrunners for the post are:

  • Ashok Gehlot -- the former Rajasthan chief minister, who spearheaded the party campaign in the Assembly polls.

  • Sis Ram Ola, currently the Coal Minister at the Centre and a Jat heavyweight from Jhunjhunu.

  • Col Sona Ram, a vocal Jat leader and former MP from Barmer.

  • Parasram Maderna another Jat leader or the current Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar.
