Drawing its name from the Lumière brothers, who brought and conveyed the art of cinema from France to India in 1896, the channel will tend to the long-neglected needs of discerning movie enthusiasts. It will source the finest films from world cinema and premier them in Indian theatres.
The venture will offer viewers a host of choices, allowing access to the movies in a variety of media – a 24-hour channel, pay-per-view on the DTH platform, home video and Internet downloads. Further promoting the cause of world cinema and its fans, will be a host of events and promotions, like lectures, workshops and one-on-ones with directors and film casts offering audiences fascinating insights and contexts of the films.
