Four-goal Kaur leads India to 7-0 romp past Trinidad
New Delhi: Captain Surinder Kaur hammered four goals as India trounced Trinidad and Tobago 7-0 in the Commonwealth Games women's hockey on Friday.

But despite the win, India's chances of making it to the semi-finals from Pool A appear bleak as they lost 2-1 to Australia and drew 1-1 with Scotland in their earlier league matches.

They will now have to win their fourth and last league match against South Africa with at least an 8-0 margin if they are to make it to the semi-finals.

South Africa and Australia have seven points each from three games after they played out a draw in the first match of the day.

India, silver medalists in the 2006 Melbourne Games, started out with purpose against Trinidad and Tobago, who have been shut out of the tournament after suffering their fourth defeat in a row.

Kaur kick started the goal-scoring spree in the 8th minute and added three more in the 30th, 37th and 54 minutes.

India's teenage stars Ritu Rani and Rani Rampal picked field goals in the 13th and 34th before Jasjeet Kaur Handa converted a penalty corner two minutes from the final hooter to cap a miserable outing for Trinidad and Tobago.
