Hema Darbar, 30, a resident of Parsi ni chali, Asarva, has accused her brother-in-law, Vijay 'Kabooter' Vaghela, of assaulting her and attempting to outrage her modesty.
She stated in the complaint lodged with the Shahibaug police that Vijay, who lives in the same vicinity, brandished a knife before forcefully dragging her to an auto-rickshaw and taking her towards Gandhinagar. In the rickshaw, he started getting physical with her and threatened to rape her in a roadside hotel. Only when she promised to spend the next day with him at a hotel, did he leave her. The next day, she filed a complaint regarding the same at the police station.
FL Vasava, police inspector, who is investigating the matter, refuse to divulge details about the case. Sources say that there appears to be a love angle in the story. The police have, however, registered a case under IPC Sec-356, which relates to assaulting women with intent to outrage their modesty.
