Two months after wedding, man shot by teenage brother-in-law

Giridih, Jharkhand: In a suspected bid for honour killing, a man, who had married a girl from another community about two months ago, was on Wednesday shot at allegedly by his teenage brother-in-law in Giridih in Jharkhand.

The youth was shot at allegedly by his 16-year-old brother-in-law when he was standing outside his house near Kalibari Chowk, Superintendent of Police (SP) A V Homkar said.

Asked whether it was a bid for honour killing, the SP said, "That can be ascertained only after investigation. But it appears this has link with the marriage."

Homkar said the police were searching for the firearm which had been thrown away somewhere after the crime.

The injured youth was taken to a nursing home here but as his condition was serious, doctors referred him to a Dhanbad hospital, police sources said.
