Three children, including two siblings, died of suffocation after they got locked inside a newly-manufactured car in Thane near Mumbai yesterday.
Dileep Amar Maji (7), Ruby Amar Maji (5) and Raj Vinodsingh Soni (6) got inside the car parked in open field near their house around noon yesterday. The central locking system trapped the children inside the car and they could not get out, say the police.
The parents of the children lodged a police complaint in the night. A police team found the children dead inside the car in the early hours today. The area is used for parking of new cars before their delivery.
A case of accidental death has been registered and the bodies have been sent for postmortem, police said, adding investigations are on.
