A four-year-old child was allegedly kidnapped by a teenager neighbour at Sirkazhi near
here on Thursday, police said.
Police said Arunkumar (15) of Keezhasengamedu village near Sirkazhi used to spend most of his time at his neighbor Kaliaperumal's house and took care of his son Gautham (4).
Arunkumar stayed on Kaliaperumal's house on Wednesday. However, Arunkumar was missing from the house this morning along with Gautham, police said.
He had also taken away the mobile phone of a guest of Kaliaperumal who had come yesterday to the house.
When Kaliaperumal made calls to the mobile, Arunkumar replied that he had taken away Gautham with him and threatened to kill the child if they approached the police. However, he did not reveal purpose of the kidnap, the police said.
Later the mobile phone was found switched off, the police said.
Kaliaperumal had lodged a complaint with the police who were trying to trace the two, police said.
