Mumbai:
A young woman heavily under the influence of drugs made the police in Mumbai spend a couple of anxious hours on a beach in Malad on Thursday evening. Twenty-two-year-old Malvani resident was found on the rocks at Malad's Danapani beach.
A policeman said some restaurant guards saw the girl in an unconscious state around 5.30 pm. "For nearly two hours, we tried to revive her. Finally, we realised we had found her in a similar condition elsewhere a couple of times earlier and were able to look up her family's phone number," said the policeman.
The girl's family said she got addicted to drugs after she was brought to the city from her village in Uttar Pradesh, away from her boyfriend. Her family said she had become addicted to drugs one-and-a-half-years ago.
"She keeps running away from home and indulging in drugs so that we get fed up and send her back to her village," said a family member. Her sister said she had picked up the drug habit at their uncle's place. The police let the girl go after counselling her.
