Samajwadi Party Candidate Thrashed Me, Alleges Panchayat Polls Official
Badaun, Uttar Pradesh: A Returning Officer for Zila Panchayat polls in Badaun today accused Samajwadi Party candidate of beating him up after he was defeated by a BJP-supported candidate in the elections.

Bheem Singh Upadhyaya said that the Samajwadi Party nominee Dalveer Singh Yadav lost the polls to BJP-backed candidate Virat Dubey for Muaun block by 17 votes.

According to Mr Upadhyaya, Mr Yadav demanded recounting which he turned down. Angry over the refusal, Mr Yadav along with his supporters thrashed him, he alleged.

Additional District Magistrate Alok Kumar Srivastava said a medical examination of the Returning Officer has been conducted and a complaint has been filed with the police.

He said stern action would be taken against the guilty after inquiry.

"Victory certificate has not been issued to any candidate so far," the Additional District Magistrate said.
