RJD MLA's bodyguard fires at junior doctors in a hospital

Gaya: Angry over the delay in the treatment of a patient, the bodyguard of an RJD MLA fired at two junior doctors here in a hospital following heated arguments between them.

Surendra Prasad Yadav, a four-time MLA from Belaganj Assembly constituency in Gaya, had gone to AN Medical College and Hospital here with a patient.

Complaining a delay in the treatment, the MLA had heated exchanges with the doctors after which his bodyguard fired from his official rifle at two intern doctors.

Dr S P Das from Assam and Dr Shahbuddin sustained bullet injuries in their legs.

Protesting against the incident, hospital employees and junior doctors held demonstrations demanding arrest of the MLA and his bodyguard.

They also burnt a jeep of the local police station.

When contacted, senior superintendent of police Amit Lodha said an FIR is being lodged against the MLA and his bodyguard.

"Necessary legal action will be taken against them. We have ordered a probe into the incident," he said.
