Parents accuse hospital of negligence for 2-year-old's death

Parents accuse hospital of negligence for 2-year-old's death
Bangalore: A two-and-a-half year old boy Venkateshwara died on Wednesday night despite being taken to three different hospitals in Bangalore. He was suffering from fever.

Venkateshwara's parents Srinivasa, a painter, and Rajamma first took their son to JP Nursing Home at 10:00 pm after his fever got worse. Srinivasa said, "We took him there to help him get better. The doctors started poking needles into his hands. When he got worse they told us to take him somewhere else."

Venkateshwara was then taken to Ananya Hospital in Basaveshwara before finally being taken to Suguna Hospital at 11:30 pm. He was declared dead on arrival.

Venkateshwara's parents allege negligence by JP Nursing Home as the cause of their son's death.

According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Madhegowda from Nandini Layout police station, "The complaint was filed at 2.10 am and we will begin the investigation first thing in the morning. So far, we don't even have the names of the doctors who treated the child."

Neighbours and relatives of Srinivasa collected outside JP Nursing Home soon after they got to know about Venkateshwara's death. Following this, the nursing home closed its gates and nobody was allowed to enter.

The authorities at the nursing home refused to comment on the issue.
