Now, 3 Thane Temples Ban Entry Of Women In Gowns

Thane: At least three temples in Kopar region of the Thane district have banned the entry of women in gowns, citing hygiene and other factors.

Authorities of Gamdevi, Mahadeo and Hanuman temples have put up notice boards outside temple premises, banning the entry of the women who are wearing gowns.

Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who manages the three temples, told mediapersons that women, who undertake cooking and other activities wearing gowns, cannot be allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the "pious place", because of hygiene factor.

The move has found supporters in the local villagers.
