No Proposal to Ban Liquor in Delhi: Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia's comment came after Rajouri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh demanded the ban on liquor in the national capital.

New Delhi: Delhi government today said that it does not have any proposal to ban liquor in the National Capital as of now.

"We do not have any proposal to impose a ban on liquor in Delhi as of now," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told the Delhi Assembly.

Mr Sisodia's comment came after Rajouri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh demanded the ban on liquor in the national capital.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had yesterday announced that alcohol will be banned in the state from April 1 next year.

In Maharashtra, a BJP legislator has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking ban on liquor in the state.

BJP lawmaker from Katol, Ashish Deshmukh, in his letter addressed to Mr Fadnavis, appealed to the government to declare Maharashtra as a 'dry state' with a view to bring about a "social revolution".
