Mumbai: Courier boy held for duping shipping firm

Mumbai: A courier boy, working in a shipping firm as a delivery boy was unhappy with the salary. Besides, his employers also refused an appraisal. He then hatched an ingenious plan to dupe his employer. Accordingly, instead of delivering a payment of Rs15 lakh to the firm's client, he decamped with the money, all in a bid to teach his employer a hard lesson. However, his plan did not materialise, as the officers of the Mumbai crime branch arrested him recently.

The accused has been identified as Rajendrakumar Singh, 26, a native of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. He is presently residing in Sion.

According to the police, in 2001, Singh reached Mumbai in search of a job. Through a reference from a common friend, he landed the job as a delivery boy at Marine international ship stores office located in Carnac Bunder area. His job involved delivering parcels, making payment and such. Soon he gained the trust of his bosses.

"As Singh was doing a high risk job of making payments to the tunes of lakhs of rupees to the clients,he demanded a revision in his salary. However, his bosses rejected his proposal. He then hatched a plan, by which he could settle scores with his employers," said police inspector Milind Khetle of the dahisar unit.

After decamping with the money, he never returned to his job, "His employer then registered a complaint regarding the same with the Pydhonie police. On receiving specific information we apprehended Singh from Dahisar area on Saturday last, and have also recovered cash worth Rs6 lakh from him. He has been handed over to the local police for further investigations," said assistant inspector Vijay Kandadgaonkar.
