Meghalaya Dy CM reprimanded for using mobile

Shillong: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope on Monday reprimanded Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh for speaking on mobile phone when the House was in session.

Lyngdoh, who is in-charge of health and family welfare and is one of the senior MLAs, was found speaking on the mobile phone when another deputy chief minister Bindo M Lanong was replying to a query during question hour.

A visibly perturbed Speaker Pyngrope stopped Lanong to reprimand Lyngdoh.

"Mr deputy chief minister, we do not allow mobile phones inside Assembly House. You not only failed to switch off the phone, but even responded to the call," he said.

With Lyngdoh quickly switching off the phone on realising the mistake, Speaker cautioned him, "Kindly refrain in future.
