Maruti Suzuki worker, family found dead in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A 35-year-old man, his wife and 10-year-old son were found dead in their Gurgaon home on Thursday night.

The deceased Dharam Pal Taneja, worked as a technician with Maruti Suzuki. His body was discovered bound with a string in the drawing room along with his son, Arpit while his wife's body was in the bedroom.

Though the police suspect it was a case of suicide, no suicide note has been found from the crime scene.

The bodies were first seen by the neighbours at around 8 pm who told the police that the television was on when they entered the house.

According to DCP, Gurgaon city, Ved Prakash Godra, prima facie it looked like a case of suicide. "The bodies have been sent for post-mortem," Godra said.

The police are suspecting that Taneja might have consumed some poisonous substance after killing his wife and son.

Police said that a chunni was wrapped around Neetu's neck. "Arpit was strangled to death too," the DCP said.

Phool Kataria, Taneja's neighbour, told the police that the deceased had asked for his scooter to bring his son from school at around 2 pm but did not return it.

When Kataria went to Taneja's house to get his vehicle back, his knocks on the door went unanswered. Kataria got suspicious and he along with his friend Arvind pushed open the door only to found the whole family dead.

"Taneja might have strangled his wife and later consumed poison himself. After consuming poison he vomited on the floor," said a senior police officer.

The police refused to divulge any details on the issue.  "We are questioning the neighbours and investigating the matter," he said.
