Man who jumped parole arrested

New Delhi: A murder convict, who jumped parole, was arrested in the capital after he fired at the police party who went to catch him, police said on Monday.

The incident took place in Nangloi late last night in which a constable Ajay Sherawat suffered bullet injuries in his leg.

Virender was apprehended from the spot though he fired thrice at the police party which was trailing him. However, his accomplice managed to escape.

After jumping bail, police claimed Virender was allegedly conducting robberies in the city.

"He fired at police when he was asked to surrender. We got a tip off that he was there," a senior police official said.

The official claimed that police did not open fire at fleeing criminals but chased them and caught Virender when his car crashed into a community hall.
