Man accused of killing 34 people held

Patna: Ramesh Yadav alias Pehlwan, the main accused in the Senari massacre in which 34 members of a particular caste were killed, was on Monday arrested by Special Task Force (STF) personnel from here, police said.

Yadav, an active member of the proscribed Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), was arrested along with two of his associates from Chitkohra locality in the state capital, STF superintendent of police P K Sinha said.

Yadav, a resident of Sukulbigha in Arwal district was absconding since 1998, he said.

The police was on the lookout for Yadav since March 19, 1999 when the MCC had killed 34 persons at Senari village.

Sinha said the STF also arrested Rakesh Verma and Kameshwar Yadav, wanted in connection with the killing of a sand dealer at Paliganj last year.
