Lancer kills Delhi teenager after IPL match

New Delhi: A teenager returning after watching an IPL match with his family was killed early Thursday morning when a speeding car hit their vehicle in the heart of the city.

The incident in which three others were injured was reported from Rajpath at around 1:30 am, a senior police official said.

The speeding Lancer car allegedly driven by Saurabh Jain hit a WagonR car in which the teenager and his family were travelling.

A total of seven people were travelling in the two vehicles and four persons were injured in the incident, a senior police official said.

All the injured were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where the teenager succumbed to injuries, the official said.

The teenager's family were returning from Feroze Shah Kotla stadium after watching the match between Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians.

Jain has been taken into custody and a case of rash and negligent driving has been registered. Police is awaiting a medical examination to ascertain whether Jain was under the influence of alcohol.
