Indore: A minor girl from Guwahati, who was working as a domestic help with a family here, was today rescued by police with the help of an NGO.

"The minor, working at a house in Bhawarkua area for the last six months, has been rescued," said Wasim Iqbal, local director of Childline NGO.

According to the girl, a woman in Guwahati told her that she would take her to her aunt's place nearby, but instead took her to Delhi where she was taught Hindi and how to work as a maid.

From there she ended up in Indore, Iqbal said. The name of a man called Iskilal, a tout in Assam, had cropped up in the probe, he said. "We suspect that the girl fell into the trap of a gang which is involved in human trafficking," he added.

The girl narrated her ordeal to the Bhavarkua police in Indore, but FIR was yet to be registered, he said.
